Conducting a Great Teleseminar

There is actually something rather mysterious about a TeleSeminar, isn't there? A certain intimacy that's created in the sound of voices gathering together, that creates a depth of connection unlike one that you make when face to face. Maybe because it's a bit of an out of body experience, being on a TeleSeminar, that makes the connection seem almost spiritual at times. And that's the quality I think best characterizes the sound of coaching. It's the sound of deep conversations and advanced communicating. Why do I say all this? TeleSeminar programs are the number one most versatile method of building business available to coaches period. And the WAY in which you hold them - in other words, the style and sound that characterizes your TeleSeminars, is going to be (or continue to be) a big part of your brand. If music is the soundtrack to our life, I suggest that TeleSeminars for your clients will become the conscience. Uppermost in my mind when it comes to the sound of coaching is the importance of silence, a powerful tool in any top-notch TeleSeminar. When you next listen to music, try listening not to the notes or melody, or a particular voice or instrument. Instead listen to the pauses and rests...the moments of silence between the notes. Without those silences, if all we heard was one continuous note with no pauses, this wouldn't be music, but noise. And the same goes with verbal communication, especially on TeleSeminars. Whether you are one on one with a single client on the telephone, or you're on a large conference line with more than 100 listeners for company, I encourage you to leave room for more silence, so that the 'ahas' have space to breathe.

Gaining a Competitive Advantage With IT Staffing Firms

Many business owners, large and small, are baffled and confused when it comes to technology.  However, in today's constantly changing marketplace, we all understand the importance of have expertise in every topic area - especially technology.  Some businesses have found that the best way to ensure they have this expertise at their fingertips is to outsource the specialized work.  In fact, this kind of decision can give companies a competitive advantage that they often overlook.

When deciding if outsourcing you IT needs is the right decision, there are a few important things to consider.  Most importantly, you want to ensure that an IT staffing firm that you are considering offers the full gamut of services that would be available if you had a full IT staff at your company.  Decision makers can consult with qualified IT consultants to determine their needs.  There are probably more benefits to outsourcing your IT services than are worth listing here, but a few of the big advantages are summed up below.

First, you will get more experience for your dollar.  Most IT staffing firms employ specialists that are always up to date with the newest skills in the industry.  Since they spend most of their time working on a variety of different projects, often with other experts in the field, they are constantly learning new skills and techniques that people who work full time in the IT department at a company might not be exposed to.  Additionally, you only pay for the expertise that you need when you outsource.  If you were to hire an IT specialist with a diverse skill set for full time work, they would be able to demand a pretty high salary.  When you hire them through and IT staffing firm for a project you only have to pay them for the work that they do.

Second, you get very personalized service when you work with a staffing firm.  Since most companies that outsource generally do not have many human resources in the IT department, they typically don't know exactly what they need.  A good IT staffing firm will work with you from the start to determine your exact needs and will develop a program for meeting your needs quickly and efficiently.  This allows you to get personalized service with custom solutions without having to manage employees or projects.

Using an outside source for your IT needs can also help you gain a competitive edge.  Since the staffing firms specialize in helping firms just like yours, chances are good that they will know what kind of solutions your competitors are using and how changing technology can give you an edge.  They can also help choose software that will streamline your business processes or even design a custom software package that is tailored for your every need.  The upgrade will undoubtedly save you time and money.

Finally, outsourcing your IT needs will save you time and money.  In an economy where every second counts, having the ability to upgrade or improve your IT capabilities quickly is a big benefit.  Outsourcing means that you don't have to spend time hiring, managing, and firing staff to get the services that you need.  This definitely saves time and money, but taking advantage of the IT staffing firm's expertise to get the best possible solution for your organization will also save money in the long run.

So, if you're looking for IT solutions that are customized for your company and only require a small investment in time and money, you should strongly consider IT staffing firms instead of hiring the help internally.

Monitoring Long Term Care Costs By State

As we discuss long term care costs by state, it's just fair to consider the thoughts of many elderly folks who are considering various alternatives to save their financial resources from being wiped out by long term care expenses.

According to many of them, some people are lucky to have been born in a place where everything is accessible and affordable. Meanwhile, others just didn't have a choice when they were born and raised by their parents in a place where everything requires a chunk of money.

Majority of elderly individuals in Alaska fear what could become of their future should they decide to settle in this state after retirement. In a survey conducted among 20 individuals between the ages of 45 and 55, only three find Alaska an ideal place to grow old. The rest would rather fly and settle in another state rather than depend on their children or spouse for care.

To consider professional home care or another LTC facility in Alaska is simply like forking out your total retirement savings on a luxury car, as long term care cost in Alaska is extremely high and seemingly for the wealthy only.

Based on the records of leading LTCi providers, Alaska happens to have the most expensive nursing homes. To afford a private room in an Alaskan nursing home, you have to have at least $227,760 to be able to pay your one-year stay here.

LTC specialists say the average length of stay of an elderly in a nursing home is two and a half years, some even manage to stay until three years, as this generation has a longer life expectancy. The question at hand though is how can one possibly afford the six-digit price tag of Alaskan nursing homes?

Residents of Hawaii and Massachusetts share the same sentiment. According to the elderly people in both states, had they known the cost of long term care in their place when they were still 10 they should have requested their parents to consider moving to Alabama or Louisiana where cost of LTC services are much reasonable.

Why Look at Long Term Care Costs By State

The cost of LTC is truly expensive. Rates of nursing homes, assisted living and even home care seem to increase by the year.

At present, a big percentage of elderly folks rely on Medicaid for long term care because they cannot afford the current cost of care. So, what more if LTC costs increase twice as much as the current figures 15 years down the road?

According to LTC specialists, everybody expecting to receive care in 15 years should secure a long term care insurance policy that is accompanied with a compound annual inflation rider of 4% or 5% because the rates of LTC facilities come 2026 will double.

It really pays to do your homework as early as now because there is no stopping the continuous rise in long term care costs by state. Whether your state of residence happens to have the most expensive LTC facilities or the cheapest, it's better to be prepared than be caught off-guard.

Can Your Fish Pond Survive the Winter?

Winter is a critical time for a fish pond and needs to be planned with great care as in severe winters you are at risk of losing your whole stock. In any region if you want your fish to survive the winter then your pond should be at least 3 feet deep. It is best by first establishing the type of winters you usually have as in areas where it is very severe for long periods of time your best option is probably to remove your fish indoors for the winter. This can be done either in a tank or a temporary pool.

Feed your fish well in the summer so they can 'bulk' up but stop feeding them as soon as the temperature falls below 50 degrees. They will then go into hibernation and feeding them during this time could cause them digestive problems and possibly kill them.

If you have a water feature such as a waterfall connected to your pond if possible leave it running throughout the winter as this will make it harder for the water to freeze and will also reintroduce oxygen to the pond. If your winters are too severe for this perhaps you should consider the introduction of an air brick that will bubble and help keep a small hole in the ice and also provide oxygen.

The main thing is to try and prevent the whole of the surface of your pond from freezing. If this your pond does freeze over DO NOT break the ice as the shock waves could kill your fish. Some people do suggest placing a ball on the surface of the pond as this will allow a small area to stay open.

Planning for the winter and taking precautions before the bad weather sets in should ensure that your fish will still be with you in the spring!

The Benefits of Swimming Lessons For Toddlers

Understanding that there is never too early an age for people to start their children of on swimming lessons is the first step for parents. The benefits of swimming lessons for toddlers are very well documented and cover areas of the physical and the psychological. This is why swimming lessons have been encourages by child psychologist as well as those in the health industry because of the patterns of behaviour that the activity creates from an early age.

When we are discussing about the developmental stages of a child, one has to understand that at an age that forms the start of when they begin to perceive and learn things from both their primary caregivers as well as experiential, it is important that guidance and the proper things are administered into their ready and waiting minds. One of the early benefits of swimming when talking about toddlers is very psychological because it represents an entry into very familiar grounds, which is of course representative of the submerged womb that they were in for a period for a few months. Not only do they get introduced into a familiar setting, they are performing this activity with their loved ones, their parents and their siblings and this strengthens the bond of love that they have with them.

Swimming is a great way to bond with your toddler and to keep them happy and there is another psychological benefit to this. By introducing them to swimming from an early age, you will eliminate with much success any possibility they would have to develop a fear of the water which would be a social impediment to whatever their young lives would bring about. The phobia of water that starts from an early age usually happens when toddlers come into contact with water and associate bad feelings or even a traumatic event to water, and this power subliminal association gets imprinted within their mind all the way to adulthood. When this happens, it is quite difficult to get them away form this fear and enjoy the water. Of course, the obvious benefits of knowing how to swim will then make them more socially accepted and give them the change to enjoy the benefit of the water.

It has been noted that the meditative effects of water, when introduced at an early age, makes these children more relaxed and less prone to panic attacks. Also, we cannot deny the physical benefits of swimming, which is a great cardio vascular work out as well as one that develops the upper and lower body at amazing paces. Once this becomes a habit, then children will bring this with them to adult hood, which mean that they will exercise quite regularly and maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. So, as you can see, the benefits of swimming are quite extensive and there is no argument against something as natural and something as beneficial as swimming. So do not wait much longer and if you do have a toddler, sign them up for swimming as fast as you can.

How To Choose The Best Source For Affordable Custom Website Design

When it comes to websites, there are many options available. The options continue to grow on a daily basis! These days, even companies that were originally only in the business to sell domain names, now sell website design services as well. They even offer custom website design at an affordable price. By doing this, the large corporations are taking away from the independent designers who do great custom web work. Nevertheless, more and more companies are offering custom website design services.

As a consumer, it's your responsibility to shop around, do your research and choose the best source to design your custom website. This article gives you a few tips on how to choose:

Tip #1 - Who Will Be In Charge Of Your Project? Name And Number! It's very very important to know who exactly will be in charge of your custom website design project. Is there a huge team managing your project? Will you receive a response from a different person every time you ask to receive a project update? Is the person in charge available via email or via phone? Will they be available on weekends should you need to discuss a quick problem or suggestion? It's very important to know who exactly is in charge of your custom website design project. It's a horrible feeling to NOT know how many people are developing your website, and who's in charge. If you cannot get a name and number of the main individual in charge of your project, this can only mean one thing: NO ONE IS IN CHARGE OF YOUR PROJECT!

Tip #2 - Find Out Exactly How Long Your Custom Website Project Will Take If the company you're about to choose for a custom website design cannot give you a good and accurate estimate on how long your website project will take, take that as a huge warning sign! When working with an experienced designer or design company, they will surely know just about how long a project will take, and they should be able to provide you with a very accurate estimate. Now, don't expect them to give you a precise day and time - let's not be too anal! But do expect for them to give you a monthly or weekly time frame. And, don't be scared to move on to the next company if they cannot get the job done within an adequate time frame.

Tip #3 - Find Out Costs, And If Payment Plans Are Available Typically a custom website design company will have contracts and other legal paperwork (whether physical or electronic) for their clients to read over and sign. When coming across companies such as these, it's extremely important to look over these documents to figure out the final price of the custom website design project. Many times, large design firms will hide the final price within the terms and conditions. You thought your custom site was only going to be less than an arm and a leg - turns out they want to charge you 2 arms and 2 legs! Read over all paperwork and be certain about how much you're about to invest for your custom website. And don't be scared to ask if a payment plan is available. And if no payment plan is available, or if they are going to charge you large interest rates, move on! Find a designer or design firm who can work with you and your financial capabilities.

Tip #4 - Is This Company Actively Involved In Creating Custom Websites? Be sure to ask to see recently completed website designs before working with a custom website design source. If they cannot show at least a few recently completed custom projects, this of course is not good. You want a company that is highly active in the industry and familiar with custom projects. If the company you're considering primarily works with templates, you may want to look at other options. You'll want a designer or company who specializes in "from the ground up" custom work. And yes, there is a huge difference between the two!

Tip #5 - Listen And Observe - If You Get A Good Feeling, Go For It! It all comes down to how you feel. If the company you're considering hiring doesn't give you a good feeling inside, that isn't good! You definitely don't want to settle for less than the best, or choose a company because they're good at talking over you and using a crafty-worded sales pitch. Never be afraid to say "No thanks", and always go with your gut feeling. It's usually always good to have at least a short "real" and "down to earth" conversation with the company or designer, just to get a better feel for how they really present themselves. If they're easy to communicate with, easy to understand and easy to work with - looks like you have yourself a winner!

Simply put, do your homework when picking and choosing a designer for your custom website project. Yes, they should be affordable, and yes they should be straight forward when it comes to answering difficult questions. Knowing who will be in charge of your project is critical, and their level of activity in creating custom websites is equally important. So, be sure to work out a great deal that's both affordable and acceptable and keep in touch with whoever is in charge of your brand new custom website design from project initiation to project completion!

How To Find A Loan For A Business Franchise

For many people who want to be in business for themselves it is not the pressure of running their own small business or business franchise that keeps them from taking the next step. It's the cost of purchasing that business or franchise, and then maintaining the initial investments required to run a business before profits overtake the cost. Typical trends in small business indicate that the first two years of a small business can be the hardest, and sometimes it takes until the third year of a new business to realize the profits that truly make being in business worth it. That time period between starting a new business and realization of profits can be greatly reduced by considering buying into a franchise.

Often times because of the success of a proven business model and a recognizable name and product the franchise market can reach productivity much faster. There is still a sizable cost involved in purchasing a franchise however and even low-cost options might still be out of reach for the entrepreneur. Especially if the desire to be own a business comes from a need to increase financial standing, coming up with the net worth and initial investments required by franchises can be difficult. Luckily there are many financing and loan options that are available to the franchisee. Many franchises themselves have partnerships with third party franchise lenders and some even offer financial assistance directly. There are some basic steps that can help the soon to be franchise owner acquire the loan and financing that allows them to go into business for themselves.

The first type of financing that many franchise and small business owners find themselves in need of is invoice financing. Especially in the volatile economic status of a newly purchased franchise, cash flow is extremely important. When a service or product is provided to the customer an invoice must be issued. Typically the customer then has between 30 and 90 days to make a payment on that invoice. That could mean an entire financial quarter between the service actually provided and the cash flow that service represents. Many new businesses simply do not have the financial depth and stability to operate for three months without any cash flow. That's why there are invoice-financing options. Decision Finance, the leading invoice finance provider, is one particular company that allows a business owner to receive payment in advance within 24 hours of issuing an invoice. Naturally there is a financing fee, but the ability to access the funds for the service provided 29 days earlier can often times allow a business to move forward and provide more products and services than initially able to in the early phases of the companies development.

Typically a business that deals in high volumes of sales, inventories, and products needs to have a certain amount of credit to purchase inventory. This coincides with a need for overdraft protection. It allows a small business franchise the ability to purchase the products, supplies, and advertising they need without being dependent on cash flow to provide all of the up front costs of operation the business. Finding a loan for overdraft protection has become much simpler in the UK and where many financial assistance programs were previously offered to only select large stable businesses, the small franchise owner is now able to access many of these programs as well. Since an overdraft protection loan or inventory credit account is an unsecured type of loan it is most likely that a business owner will secure this type of financing from a financial institution that they have developed a good business relationship with. It may be difficult to receive this type of protection initially from a new financial institution and other financial loan methods may need to be sought out.

For the individual that has already found the particular franchise or business for sale that they desire a commercial mortgage is probably the type of loan needed to finance property or land. Much like a residential mortgage this will be secured through a financial institution that provides mortgages and interest rates, repayment terms, and prepayment penalties are critical in the feasibility and affordability of the loan. It's imperative for the franchise owner when finding a loan to consider what the likely hood of moving to a new location, or re-selling the property will be when thinking about the different types of commercial mortgages available.

Finally when developing a successful franchise opportunity many business owners need to purchase or acquire an expensive piece of equipment or machinery. Leasing products can sometimes allow the franchise owner to acquire what they need without acquiring legal title. There are many different types of asset based lending which is a form of secured financing, and some will allow you the option of re-leasing a new piece of equipment when the term has expired. Other styles of leasing or asset based lending will have an ownership buyout or purchase price after the term of the lease providing legal ownership of the equipment.

Some franchises refer their owners to a preferred financing institution. For certain types of loans that are more risk based, or unsecured, the franchise in question may have a financial institution that they have established a relationship with. In those cases finding out how the name of the franchise that customers recognize also is a name that financial institutions recognize provides even more benefit to choosing the franchise route. Other franchises such as the Yellowtom franchise, which is a web franchise offering local loyalty coupons and bonuses to members, offers direct financing as a part of their franchise opportunity. Whether it's to get off the ground, or to run and maintain a new business the financing options are out there for small business and franchise owners. Understand relationships, what a particular franchise offers, and what type of financial needs are required for a specific franchise and product are the keys to know where to go for the type of loan that will allow each business to experience profitability.

Block Spam Mail Now

There are many people out there who claim that they know what spam is. However, you must know that it is difficult to identify who is right or wrong because, you see, spam can be defined in different ways. But to avoid any complications, spam is any kind of junk mail or commercial advertising electronic mail that you get, which of course, you never imagined you would be asking for. Any sort of method for blocking spam is a gift form God.

Spam Assassin, which is introduced by TCH, is a tool that blocks spam mail from a specific server. If you choose its default mode, it will be disabled when a particular website is setup by TCH. If you choose to install this spam mail blocker, your worries about receiving spam mail are surely reduced, if not eradicated.

If you want to block spam mail more specifically, you can just block certain mail depending on what words are stated on their subject line. It is such a simple task. You have to click on Email Filtering first, and then click Add Filter. After you have done so, the first drop down box will come out, and inside this drop down box, you click Subject.

A second drop down box will show, wherein you must click Contains. And yes, just like you have predicted, there is also a third drop down box. In the last drop down box, you should type Stop Pay, or whatever word or phrase it is or are that you want to block. When these words are in a certain mail, they will not be able to enter your inbox. This method is usually used to avoid receiving any obscene mails that are just completely adored by perverts.

However, this method must be paid attention to because it is really case sensitive. So if you type prostitute, it may not have the power to block the word prOsTiTutE. After you have finished these tasks, click Discard. After clicking Discard, click Activate. That is, however, not the last "Click" you must perform, you still have to click Go Back. It is a simple procedure. But admit it, it can get pretty lengthy.

If you want a quicker solution, you can just automatically discard the spam mail that has been posing to be quite a threat to your inbox space. Instead of saving your inbox space for those wanted messages, you end up having to delete advertisements for specific products that you did not even know existed.

Blocking spam mail is definitely the solution if you want a cessation of all those unwanted mails. There are various ways to be able to block spam mail manually. But if you want to live life the easier way, you can just download and install certain software that are experts in blocking spam email.

Miniature Horses Are Just Smaller Versions Of A Horse

There is no one breed of horses that are called miniature-this is just a term that is used to describe a horse that meets certain height requirements. Most breeds are measured in hands-where one hand equals four inches. However, minis are measured in inches or centimeters. They are measured from the ground to the base of the hairs on their mane.

Miniature horses are less than half the size of a regular horse and breeders select the smallest stallions and mares for breeding. This way, they hope to ensure that they have even smaller foals the following spring. A new foal weights about 18-22 pounds and stands 16 to 21 inches at birth-making it about the same size as a medium-sized dog.

They are basically the same as their larger relatives in their shape, appearance and personality. They come in every color a horse can be-black, bay, sorrel, palomino, solid colors, mixed or pintos. They have very long manes and tails and some of them even have tails that can touch the ground.

Miniature horses have been around for over 400 years; however, their origin is unknown. In olden days, they were pets in the palaces and revered by nobility. Throughout the decades, their popularity grew among the rich mostly because they were not useful as a worker-they were too small to carry a rider or a heavy load.

Eventually, the miniature horse found a job. They were used to pull loads of coal from mines since they were small enough to move safely through the tunnels where they gained the nickname of pit ponies. All was not lost on them because when they too old to work, they were often taken home as pets by the miners.

Breeders became interested in the miniature horses in the mid-1900s and several different herds were cultivated and the breed increased in size, popularity and value. The first registry was called the American Miniature Horse Registry and was created in 1972. They helped develop and document pedigrees for the miniature horses, some of them going back to the early 1940's.

Today, they are maintained as the result of careful breeding. Their gentle personalities make them good pets for children, elderly people and even for people with disabilities. In several communities, they are taken directly into schools rooms, nursing homes and hospital wards to help cheer up patients and to educate the children.

How often can children today spend a day on a farm and interact with the animals? There are miniature horse farms around the country that open their doors to visitors as one way to help finance their hobby of breeding these animals. Many of them even have special barns with a show rink where the miniature horses can demonstrate their skills to the public.

Think about spending a day visiting one of these farms and give your children an opportunity to see and interact with these beautiful animals. You may start a love affair with your children wanting to breed these lovely creatures when they grow up.

The Difference a Response Makes

It may be hard to believe but, three seconds can be enough time to turn a confrontation into a conversation! The concept of turning a reaction to a response is an essential skill set and mindset to conversational success.

To quote Abraham Hicks, "Even in your rightness about a subject, when you try to push your rightness toward another who disagrees, no matter how right you are, it causes more pushing against. In other words, it isn't until you stop pushing that any real allowing of what you want can take place."

Essentially, the more you push your opinions and your positions on others, the more they push back. This creates a sense of resistance or even power struggle in a conversation, and can quickly turn it from conversational to confrontational.

There are a few approaches you can use to master the art of turning reactions to responses:

· Breathe! Often just stopping to take a few deep breaths is all it will take to refocus a conversation and calm tensions.

· Manage the chatter and internal dialogue racing through your mind. The thoughts shape your words and your outcomes. Replace the negative thoughts with neutral or positive ones.

· Ask questions- it is hard to be judgemental when you are being curious. It can also help you to understand better where the other person is coming from.

· Listen to the other person's perspective and ask yourself "what is he/she really saying?" Listen for common ground. Again, asking questions can help in this process.

· Breathe some more!

As long as you are reacting, which comes from your emotions, the likelihood of having to do a mulligan (a do over) is quite high. This is because when you react, you are more likely to say, do or think things that you don't mean. Responding is a more thought out and less emotionally charged way of addressing a difficult situation. When you recognize that you are reacting instead of responding, stop and take 3 deep breaths. This process should help calm you and your emotions. Hopefully, the other person is also affected in a positive way by this break in the conversation and begins to respond instead of react as well. The next time you are in an emotional conversation, try turning your reactions into a response and see the impact it has on you and the other person. There is a high likelihood that you won't regret taking those few breaths and redirecting the energy of the conversation.

The Most Important PR In America

Just happens to be public relations activity that alters individual perceptions leading directly to changed behaviors. PR pulls that off by persuading a manager's key outside audiences with the greatest behavior impacts on the organization, to its way of thinking. Then it moves those external stakeholders to take actions that help the organization succeed.

I don't believe public relations can deliver much more than that.

Not surprisingly, PR runs best on its own fundamental premise that gets everyone working towards the same external audience behaviors. Insuring that your PR effort stays focused, the blueprint goes like this: People act on their own perception of the facts before them, which leads to predictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished.

Results can range from community leaders beginning to seek you out, welcome bounces in show room visits and specifying sources looking your way to prospects starting to do business with you, customers making repeat purchases, and even fresh proposals for strategic alliances and joint ventures.

If, as a manager, that scenario appeals to you, try this path.

First, who handles the work required to produce such results? Your own full-time public relations staff? Some people assigned by the corporate office to your unit? An outside PR agency team? No matter where they come from, they need to be committed to you, to the PR blueprint and to its implementation, starting with key audience perception monitoring.

It's useful to make certain the public relations people assigned to your unit really believe - deep down - why it's SO important to know how your most important outside audiences perceive your operations, products or services. Make sure they accept the reality that perceptions almost always lead to behaviors that can help or hurt your unit.

Working closely with the PR folks, start by nailing down who among your important outside audiences is behaving in ways that help or hinder the achievement of your objectives. Then, list them according to how severely their behaviors affect your organization.

Now, take steps to find out precisely HOW most members of that key outside audience perceive your organization. If you don't have the budget to pay for what could be costly professional survey counsel, you and your PR colleagues will have to monitor those perceptions yourself. Actually, they should be quite familiar with perception and behavior matters.

Best way to get that activity under way is to meet with members of that outside audience and ask questions like "Are you familiar with our services or products?" "Have you ever had contact with anyone from our organization? Was it a satisfactory experience?" Be sensitive to negative statements, especially evasive or hesitant replies. And watch carefully for false assumptions, untruths, misconceptions, inaccuracies and potentially damaging rumors. When you find such, they will need to be corrected, as they usually lead to negative behaviors.

Now, it's time to select the actual perception to be altered, which then becomes your public relations goal. Naturally, you want to correct any untruths, inaccuracies, misconceptions or false assumptions.

Kind of goes without saying that a PR goal without a strategy to show you how to get there, is like a sailor's sandwich without the knockwurst. As you select one of three strategies especially constructed to create perception or opinion where there may be none, or change existing perception, or reinforce it, what you want to do is insure that the goal and your new strategy dovetail. You don't want to pick "change existing perception" when current perception is just right suggesting a "reinforce" strategy.

At this juncture, you create a compelling message carefully structured to alter your key target audience's perception, as directed by your public relations goal.

Your message must be a grabber and crystal-clear about what perception needs clarification or correction, and why. Of course you must be truthful and your position logically explained and believable if it is to hold the attention of members of that target audience, and actually move perception in your direction.

Then try this. Combine your corrective message with another news announcement or presentation which may provide more credibility by downplaying the need for such a correction.

Believe it or not, I call the communications tactics you will use to move your message to the attention of that key external audience, "beasts of burden" because they must carry your persuasive new thoughts to the eyes and ears of those important outside people.

You will be glad to know that a long list of such tactics awaits your pleasure. It includes letters-to-the-editor, brochures, press releases and speeches. Or, you might choose radio and newspaper interviews, personal contacts, facility tours or customer briefings. The only selection requirement is that the communications tactics you choose have a record of reaching people just like the members of your key target audience.

A fortunate factor is, things can always be accelerated by adding more communications tactics, AND by increasing their frequencies.

Questions will soon arise with regard to progress. Of course, you will already be hard at work remonitoring perceptions among your target audience members to test just how good your PR program really is. Using questions similar to those used during your earlier monitoring session, you'll now be alert for signs that audience perceptions are beginning to move in your general direction.

We are fortunate indeed that our key stakeholder audiences behave like everyone else - they act upon their perceptions of the facts they hear about you and your operation. Leaving you little choice but to deal promptly and effectively with those perceptions by doing what is necessary to reach and move your key external audiences to actions you desire.

There's never a happier moment in the practice of public relations than when the data shows that you have achieved the kind of key stakeholder behavior change that leads directly to achieving your department, division or subsidiary objectives.
